Question:

2006 Nissan Frontier Transmission?

When the automatic transmission Downshifts from a higher gear to a lower gear, (as I‘m applying the brakes to come to a stop sign etc.) I can hear a Clunking Sound that sounds like it‘s coming from the rear end, and feel a slight jerk. My Frontier has 72,000 miles on it. Does it sound like transmission trouble? When I accelerate from a stop, the transmission shifts from lower to higher gears rather smoothly. Thanks

Answer:

hey, i'm having the exact same issue with my 2006 Nissan Frontier, can you please help me out on where i can find a replacement Valve Body?
Dear Jeff Please check the journal kit of the propeller shaft, every shaft has two journal kits one at the transmission and the other at the rear final drive. Just rise your truck at a workshop put the transmission control to D position and turn off the engine and try to rotate the propeller shaft, If you hear a tik tak sound then you have to replace the journal kit. Recommendation If you decide to replace the journal kit then you have to replace the two journals to avoid the damage for the unplaced one. Good luck
Frontiers have transmission valve body issuescall your local Nissan dealer and see if they can do anything for you. Althought the powertrian warranty is 60K miles sometimes the dealer will help you since it is a known issue. You can also call 1-800-Nissan1 for customer service and get a rep to help you.
preferably it should either be green or blue
