Question:

95 Saab Manual Transmission?

My Saab will no longer go in reverse. I‘ve had the dealer replace the linkage and my mechanic mess with it twice. He is telling me I need a new transmission. Do I have any options. I‘ll junk the car before putting anew transmission in it. Thanks for any help!

Answer:

Question. Is the vehicle a 1995 9-5?
jj above is correct. he is talking about an intercooler however, they DO take up a lot of space under the hood.
your mechanic is right many of those intakes dont get to the amount of hp stated without a ECU flash or reprogram. at best to might get 3-5HP to the wheels most likely less than 3
Early 95 manual transmissions have problem with the reverse gear design. If you had a good Saab repair shop they would be able to repair your transmission and get rid of this design problem for under a Grand. If you dont have Saab repair shop you then would be spending more money (as you are discovering now) on any repair on your Saab. I happen to own a Saab shop for the past 30 years. Majority of my clients keep on driving their saabs and I hear them say that as long as I am around they will never sell their saab or get another type of car. If you need another Transmission that does not have reverse gear issue, send me an email.
