I just got a 96 camaro, would a cold air intake increase performance and mpg?
Hint: Where does your engine get its air from now? And no, cold vs. warm air is not going to change your economy. The only way to get better economy is to reduce *restriction*, which is unlikely on most newer cars, like yours. Cold air is denser, so more oxygen than warmer air. However, on a fuel injected car, fuel is not added based on airflow. It is added based on combustion efficiency, which is what the O2 sensor is watching. If you increase oxygen content in the intake charge (via colder air, forced induction, nitrous, etc) then the ECM/PCM will automatically inject fuel to compensate. The mixture used under cruise conditions (when economy is realized) is 14.7:1 Air:Fuel ratio. That never changes, even when temperature changes. A colder intake charge will use MORE fuel (again, to get to 14.7:1, if more oxygen is added, then the fuel used goes up the same amount), but since it's denser (more air) combustion is more efficient, and less air AND fuel is required for the engine to do as much work.
Yes more air flow breathe better run better.you will like it and feel it. Import kids wrong
Not really. Fuel freezes when injected, so preheating is actually more efficient. Cold air intake is only noticed when full throttle, as it increases effective volume a little. At lower speeds, it does nothing.
hope you got room , most t's mean tight quarters the best tip is to clean all fittings inside the tee and what is going in the fittings tip CLEAN fit all your pipes at once it really does not mater top or bottom left or right once all ends are cleaned and fluxed this is caplulary induction, soldering form the botton that flux will suck up into the joint, do it as quikly as you can, touch the solder core around the entire fitting agian review FIT your pipe CLEAN fittings inside and out make 'em shine FLUX and go for it
