Question:

A layman's understanding of different Operating Systems ?

Well, I am not a techie and hence, it puzzles me how various Operating Systems work.I have always seen and used Mircrosft Windows and I thought Windows was how the computers worked. And when I heard that there are other operating systems like Linux and Mac, many questions popped up:What should a layman understand about different operating systems ? [after learning what an operating system basically is]How do Linux and Mac work ? Do they use windows for different applications or not ?What parallels do we have with Linux and Mac for MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel etc.. ? Why are Linux and Mac NOT as popular as Microsft despite Microsft known to be more vulnerable to viruses ?Somebody please explain these with patience.

Answer:

propane and natural gas are completely odorless( i think) it is a law that all such fuel sources are supplemented with a stinky solution that makes any gas leak immediately noticeable. short of an open flame, there is not a detector that you would be willing to pay for. the pros have special detectors for this, but are not what you are looking for. if you are worried that you may have a leak, just sniff around. it smells like rotten eggs. if you do smell a leak, call 911 or your propane provider. if you want to check for a leak, just use Windex, it actually works great. just spray a little over your gas fittings and watch for the line to blow bubbles. you usually don't really need to worry about leaks. unless you are working on or around your lines, you won't develop a leak
I would want to be certain that it is out of service. A buddy of mine is a firefighter. He told me that if a car were parked next to a hydrant, he might just drag the hose, and all of its metal couplings over the car, if he had to fight a fire, using that hydrant. He also stated that he might even have to break out the windows of the car, just to get his hose through, and he would be justified. I would call the fire department and ask them if it is OK. Get a letter stating this, if possible.
