Truth be told, it looks like a lot compared to what humans shed but it's really not.. your cats are likely shedding their short summer fur and getting in their winter coats. Also, you shed as well but you only see the hair from your head.. on the cats you see it all over their bodies. My suggestion to you is to go to the hard ware store and get a large roll of 4-5 wide masking tape.. use that to pick up the hair on furniture and the like, it's cheaper than one of those lint rollers or anything else and works just fine. Just reverse wind it onto a paper towel roll. Vacuuming the carpet once a week helps too. What breed are they? Some just shed more than others and cats will tend to shed more if they are under stress as well.
