A question about lcd monitors and DVI?

I dont have a dvi graphics card,i have a good quality crt monitor,im wanting to decide whether or not to purchase an lcd monitor for what appears to be impressive lcd quality.i dont have DVI though.should i stick to my very good quality crt or will i benefit from an lcd monitor without DVI even?the more detailed an answer the better thanks

Answer:

You can hook the DSUB-15 output from your video card to a DVI LCD. All you need is an inexpensive adapter. Many LCDs still have the old DSUB-15 plugs. The image quality will be identical regardless of the type of plug you use, though it makes sense to buy a LCD with DVI because it is more common.
you can buy a VGA to dvi adapter or if you don't want to spend the money just use the vga output. All it does is slow the refresh rate down a little, because the monitor has to do the converting. The slow down is hardly noticable unless you are playing games that need really high graphic quality.
LCD monitors usually bring both option DVI(digital) and dsub (analog). Instead of plugging it in the DVI port just plug it as if it was a CRT monitor (analog). Very few monitors come now only for DVI. DVI just provides a better picture for LCD monitors but DSUB works well with it.
