Obviously you need to check the cylinder wall wearIt is no harder to replace pistons than just the rings because you have to remove the pistons anyhow and you con't have to clean up the new piston ring groovesIf you need to replace the cylinder sleeve, you should replace the piston too.
Are you sure that it is not a haunch crane.
