Question:

AC water leak in the attic .?

I have 2 storied home with the AC unit installed in the attic area of thehomeWhats happening is when I run the AC, water leaks from the AC to drain pan and from there I guess to the cealing instead of the outlet I tried to get the estimates form 2 people.1Says replace the drain pan and things would be fine,2Says water ideally should not drop it to the drain pan and I shouldfix the AC unit from where its leaking waterSuggests to replacethe AC coil which it seems cost about 600$ + labor which includebalancing the drain pan, cleaning the AC unit, installing the coil andalso make sure the AC supply is well balanced betn 1st and 2nd floor.Labor cost is 800$So total about 1400 to 1500$.Any suggestions pls?-shri

Answer:

Your drain pipe is clogged upThere is a drain pan inside your unit is is the primary drainUnderneath is the secondary pan in case the other one is cloggedIf you have some high pressure air then you can just blow it through from the outside pipeIf not than you will need to go in the attic and cut the pipeClean it out with a snake or even a water hose if it will reachRe glue the pipe back together and you should be good to goWhile in the attic, then go ahead and clean the secondary one alsoIt probably got clogged with insulation.
