Question:

According to NFPA 72 Fire Alarm concerning seperation between low and high voltage, would you allow 24v from..

your panel to send to and trip a shunt for elevator shutdown? Before these shunts had 110v that tied into the Red MR101 relays. When a heat went off in the elevator, would send from the Panel to the close the 110v to shunt and turn off the elevator. Now the shunts have a 24v wire coming from the side of it and the GC is requesting for the 24v to originate from our panel. The question is, does NFPA72 allow for us to connect directly from our panel to the 24v shunt cable? Are there any chances of the 480v from the legs of the breaker to jump over and fry our panel? Since the MR101 has to be removed, what prevents a back feed from the 480v? Before, they made shunts with 110v and that went into our MR101 relays. Now with these new shunts that have a 24v wire to it, now electricians and GC's think that 24v is to come from the Fire Alarm company. What is the common implementation to this?
