when i start up the laptop it works fine ,when the power cable is plugged in the lights will flash sometimes and the laptop will not recognise that it is plugged in. i have bought a new adaptor and this is still happening, any help would be great
How old is the laptop? Send it back now!!! Get yer money back! I've had an Acer laptop and my mate has two! All of them very, very problematic! Acers look not bad on paper (specs etc) but they are nothing but garbage! I HATE ACER!!!!! They shouldn't be allowed to sell the crap that they do!!!!
You can't just glue it back on, it needs to be resoldered or replaced. That flashing you see when pressing the power button is telling you that the battery has not enough power to boot the computer. It clearly isn't interfacing with the power adapter since the electrical connection is broken.
I would say that jack that the power cord plugs into has come loose from the motherboard. It may at times have enough of a connection to work at some times. To confirm this, you could gently wiggle the power cord and see if it shows it is working on AC power. To fix this you will have to have it soldered back on. I have sold many Acer laptops, they are more reliable then many other brands.
