Question:

Additive construction?

For my art class I need to make an additive construction. What exactly is additive? Also what materials should I use?The professor used wood + clay, wood + paper as examples, but I‘m not really feeling those. It‘s supposed to be made out of more than one material. And I have no idea what to create.

Answer:

It's also called mixed media. The material usually has some meaning to the artist., ie., plastic is a man made material and may have some significant to an artists statement. Wood is organic and does it's thing by nature; metal is a manipulative material. Each has its own properties to a relative statement. Go wild, get crazy, have fun, do (or find) your thing; that's what art is all about.
the construction which clubs all is additive construciton
What I perceive from his remark is that you need to construct something by adding another material to it. You could use the following Plastic and cloth Cardboard and string Cloth and metal Plastic and metal String and cloth Wood and metal etc. any two items that you can think of Good luck
