Advantages and disadvantages of orifice flowmeters and Venturi flowmeters
The Venturi flowmeter is also a constant section differential pressure flowmeter. It is based on the orifice plate flowmeter and uses a tapered and expanding short tube instead of orifice plate. The structure is simple and the resistance loss is small, but the cost is high.
Orifice flowmeter is a constant cross section pressure difference flowmeter. It has the largest velocity at the contraction point, the lowest pressure of the fluid, simple structure, but great resistance loss.
