Question:

After setting Repeater mode, the relay effect is not obvious or unsuccessful, what can I do?

After setting Repeater mode, the relay effect is not obvious or unsuccessful, what can I do?

Answer:

As shown below, the host connected to Bridge 1 or Bridge 3 can communicate via the WDS link and the host to the bridge 2. However, the host connected to the Bridge1 cannot communicate with the Bridge3 host through the Bridge2.
In Repeater mode, the wireless signals, SSID, and encryption modes sent by TL-WR700N are exactly the same as those of the main AP, so after setting the Repeater, the wireless cannot search for the default TL-WR700N of the SSID. In the Bridge mode, the TL-WR700N can set its own SSID and encryption mode for wireless signals, which can be different from the main AP.TL-WR700N sets the Repeater mode as a relay amplification for the front-end wireless device, first establishing a wireless connection with the main AP, and then sending the wireless signals of the main AP,The TL-WR700N setting Bridge mode can also extend wireless coverage by first establishing a wireless connection with the main AP, then TL-WR700N sends its own wireless signals for client connections
WDS (Wireless, Distribution, System) wireless distributed system is a wireless connection of two access points (AP) protocol. In the whole WDS wireless network, multiple AP are connected by bridge or repeater, so that the whole local area network is wireless. The main difference between the two modes is that, for the relay mode, packets received from an access point can be forwarded to another access point via the WDS connection. However, the bridge mode, packets received via the WDS connection can only be forwarded to the wired network or wireless host. In other words, only relay modes can be forwarded from WDS to WDS packets.
