Question:

Air intakes on I/O boat?

Where are the air intakes on my 2004 Four Winns Freedom 180?I can‘t find any intakes on the front of the boat. Does anyone know where they are?

Answer:

Usually the engine just pulls in fresh air from the engine compartment, it doesn't have a intake duct like a car. There should be some vent panels on the rear sides of your boat that pull fresh air into the engine compartment to vent it and give the engine the air it needs. The blower motor should be hooked up to these with some tubes so that when you are just starting your engine or at slow/idle you can move fresh air in and get the gas fumes out. Look for plastic/chrome or fiberglass vents or caps over ducts on the sides of you boat near the engine area.
