What is the difference between short and the longer air intakes. what are the positive and neg of them. I drive a Acura integra.
its not the length. its if its getting cooler air.
A short intake receives air from the engine bay which is hotter. A long intake receives air from the lower part of the car which is cooler . cooler the air the more hp produced. . Length of a tube has a small factor on hp due to resistance on airflow drag . The bends in the tube have a major factor in lose of hp due to loose of airflow
Short ram intake vs Cold air intake? I'll try to explain. Short ram intakes gets quicker air response. Down side is that it doesn't give much power and it collects warm air because it's closer to the engine. Cold air intakes are farther from the engine so it gets colder air, and it has a longer pipe which carries more oxygen giving more horsepower. But the downside is that since it has a longer pipe it will take longer for the air to get to the engine(bit slower air response), also since it is closer to the groundyou have a chance of sucking up water if not mounted correctly. Just a curious question what kinda motor does your Integra have?if you dont know, what year and model is it?
