Answer:

i live in Upstate New York and I have a set of studded tires mounted on separate wheels so I don't have to brake them down and remount them every year. Makes it a lot easier to just unbolt one and bolt the other ones on. I run studded tires on the drive tires on all four of my vehicles.
How old is the unit? After seven to ten years the Co2 detectors need replaced. They start giving false readings.
Minnesota bans them here also for tearing up the roads. Sounds like you got spoiled with 4x4 but even here in Minnesota it doesn't matter as you just don't put yourself in the position to have to use it if you don't have it. Front wheel is fine in snow here also. Does it make you wonder how drivers got by the many, many years before front wheel and 4 wheel drive? Well, they did fine. Adjust your driving. I do like Blizzacks though.
just lock the door to her room and dont open it till she goes to sleep
I live in VT too, howdy neighbor! I prefer a good studless snow tire over studded. the studs these days are so short, they don't do much and the rubber compounds and tread designs have improved so much that studless winter tires are pretty amazing. I'd be willing to bet that if you just used all-season tires on your 4x4, you'll actually find FWD with a good non-studded winter tire to be more sure-footed. I've personally had really good luck with the Dunlop Graspic, which is reasonably priced to boot. Hope this helps!
