Hey I believe my LCD monitor's backlight burnt out. This monitor also comes with a TV tuner built-in. However, when using the TV, the screen is bright, but when I use it for computing, it is very dim. I'm assuming the backlight burnt out and I need a replacement? And if so, how much would labor and parts cost?
Thats not your LCD backlight causing the problems however without going into the tech details, there is no reason to get an LCD repaired every. Any repair will cost more than simply buying a new one. To give you an idea, a backlight can cost as much as 400 dollars to get replaced, whereas a new lcd can be purchased for much less.
that will be your inverter board. not your backlight. if your back light was out, you won't be able to see much in both tv/computer . i suggest you to buy a new LCD monitor instead of getting it fix. the cost for parts and labor will cost as much as getting a new one.
It is the same backlight for TV or PC. So it is not burnt out. Are you using an odd cables? you could be losing signal strength in a poor cable, or an overly long one. Cable splits will definitely mess up your signal. Can you adjust the brightness of the monitor when connected to the PC? There may be an automatic brightness reduction in the monitor when it connects to different sources. Check if you have a gamma adjustment in the monitor OSD menu. People tend to watch TVs from far away, monitors from close up, this may be a deliberate design choice.
