There are companies that recharge them at a nominal fee. Some have a trade in. This is something that a professional should do so please let them. You can have your others checked for free while you are there. Look in the yellow pages under fire.
I've seen goggles for sports in the places where you buy glasses. You might be able to use those but I play with my glasses on, and I'm goalie so it guts dangerous playing with my glasses.
The answer to your question is clearly stated in the installation instructions which should be read only if all else fails(so they say)If you are having to go 90 degrees then use 2 x 45 degree bends or better pull a bend if you are using copper as there is much less resistance on the pump. If you are pumping uphill then increase the size of the pipe if there will be any gravity flow involved after the uphill bit. Use solvent fittings as push fit will blow apart with obnoxious consequences.
