Question:

Aluminum foil boat building?

For a class competition, we have to make a boat out of only a square of aluminum foil that can hold as many marbles as possible without sinkingAny suggestions about the shape of the boat or anything else that could help?

Answer:

The board of home owner association determines the monthly feeThe fund is used for paying electricity, water and other utility in the public area within the buildingsAlso clean up service, garbage disposal, lawn mowing, maintenance and hardware replacement etcAnd also.the salary paid for the HOA manager who will organizes all of the above, an accountant who manages the fund and budget, an assistant who answers phone calls, handles complaints and collects monthly HOA duesAnd the money will also pay for their office rentalSome money will go to the monthly board meeting for snack and drinksAnd finally, most of the fund goes to insurance in case of water, fire, or may be earthquake damagesHope that help.
Here's my 2 cents, for what it's worth: I would make the boat with a shape similar to that of a juicer (the glass thing used to squeeze oranges) but with higher sides (and not as big a dent in the middle)Form the center of the foil into this shape, and roll up the edges to make a rimDon't flatten as you roll, you want the rim to be as rigid as possible(You may find that flattening the rim horizontally gives more strength; experiment!) You should wind up with a bowl that has a hump in the centerThe hump helps keep the weight of the marbles toward the edges, rather than in the center (where they would tend to collapse the ring)If you get to put the marbles in yourself, put the first ones in so they form a ring around the outer edge and build on thoseThis will also trap some air under the center cone which should help with buoyancy and stabilityTest your design and tweak it! Good luck!
