Question:

Aluminum or plastic steering block for my traxxas stampede?

I broke my plastic one and was wondering. I know the aluminum block is more durable but it cost about 35$, the plastic one is weaker but it cost 3$. Is the aluminum block worth the by or should i go for the cheap plastic one. Please Help!

Answer:

Traxxas Stampede Steering Block
For $3 versus $35, you could break eleven plastic blocks before you came close to breaking even with one aluminum block. Note that the block is absorbing shock by breaking, and that the aluminum block will tend to transmit that shock and move the problem to the next plastic component in line. If it is an easy swap, and does not happen so often that it spoils your fun, go plastic. However, watch out for shipping costs, that might make it $18 vs. $50, for example. And downtime can be a drag, so I use several Golden Horizons aluminum components myself, on my Maxxes. As an upside they look nice too.
I have the identical problem with my Rustler. I changed the screw and the servo saver and it went away for a whilst...But now it occurs once more. Simply with the small factor just like the servo saver and see what occurs.
If you don't mind replacing it once in a while go for the cheap one.
