Question:

Amd FX-4100 Bulldozer or Sandy Bridge?

So My parents are giving me one grand to build my new gaming rig from scratch. I need to know if the new Amd FX series processor are good for gaming or should i just get a Intel Sandy Bridge processor and if so which one?

Answer:

If you are going to use a dedicated graphics card, then sandy bridge is a waste. The FX 4100 is cheaper and the money you save can be put towards a better graphics card. (and the 4100 is probably one fo the best performance to cost deals out there. You can find one on amazon for $109.00 which is $20.00 cheaper than even newegg)
For okorder Make sure you get a good P67 or z68 motherboard with it.
Doesnt Sandy-Bridge unlock the CPU multipliers?
Go with the i5-2500k intel sandy bridge processor for good perfromance in gaming , amds are cheaper and good for gaming and a asus p8p67 motherboard, 8gb of ram, amd hd 6950 graphic card, and a 650 watt cooler master psu
The AMD FX-4100 is the worst of the new Bulldozer builds and barely beats out the old series Phenom II x4's. You are better off going with an Intel Core i5 2500k. It is currently the best price to performance CPU on the market for gaming. There is a special on it I saw at NCIX's new US store. Check it out will save you $25 off of NewEgg and I have ordered from them before.
