The impedance of a resistor R, inductor L, and capacitor C in series is Z R +j(XL - XC) where XL 2πfL and XC 1/(2πfC), XL is proportional the to ac frequency f and XC is inversely proportional to the ac frequency f. At the resonance frequency fo, XL XC, fo 1/(2π√(LC)) When f fo, Z R , this is the minimum impedance, and since I V/Z, I will be a maximum at resonance.
