Question:

An auto shop scratched my car what can I do?

I bought a car and it needs work. The dealer I bought the car from told me to take it to his friends shop. I take it and leave it there for 2 days. The guy charges me an arm and a leg to fix the problem. I tell him no thanks I will pick up my car. I get there and there is a big scratch on my door and a dent. My car didnt have any scratches or dents when I bought it or took it to that jerk. He says it was already there. What can I do?I was mad and I needed to leave. I told him off but he didnt care.

Answer:

need more info then that
ask the dealer friend of the garage to speak to the owner of the garage for you.since the dealer sends ppl there his voice carries deep into their pockets.
well you can sue him in small claims most mechanics will document any damage to the car when you drop it off and ask you to sign find out who the registered agent is for the company and have him served
I had that happen to me after I just bought my car, and it was at a high-end dealership. They scratched the lower side panel bottom all the length, presumably with the arm of the car lift not moved completely out of the way in the work bay. I did not see it until a day later and so I had no legal recourse. In you case it looks similar, they did not document and agree with you on the condition of the vehicle prior to taking it in, and so there is no legal evidence, only one person's word against another's. It is common that repair shops do not fill out a body condition checklist prior to taking in a vehicle, so it all comes down to the reputability or honesty of the staff and management if something like this happens. It looks to me like bad luck and you will have to suck up the dent, definitely look around for a better repair shop for all your future needs. Make sure you cover any bare metal in the scratch with zinc-rich primer (don't spray on to avoid messes, spray primer into can lid and use a small paint brush to apply).
