I have boxes and boxes of quartz countertop samples. They are like little blocks. I thought of using them like tile on a wall. I hate to just throw them away but I can't think of one project I can use them in, other than a trivet for my kitchen. Any got garden ideas, kitchen or any ideas at all?
Perhaps you mean nodules? Little round masses (nodules) of quartz. Quartz is a mineral - SiO2. Glass (like in windows) is commonly made from SiO2, made by melting quartz. There are usually small amounts of other elements like sodium to help the melting behavior and reduce brittleness and fracturing in the glass product (improve the quality of the glass, basically, like Pyrex). High silica content glass (quartz glass, or pure glass) is very difficult to work with, melts at a higher temperature and is thicker (more viscous). (I've done some glass blowing in the past).
