Question:

Anyone ever have something ceramic coated for exhaust heat issues?Or bought something already ceramic coated?

Does ceramic coating really make that much difference when dealing with exhaust heat issues or any heat issues for that matter? Any experience or tips with ceramic coating would be helpful. Is it really worth the cost to have a ceramic coating done on exhaust parts or is it a waste of money? Thanks.

Answer:

Ceramic coating on headers does help keep a bit of the heat out of the engine bay, and covers up the rusty pipes, but I'm not sure what else it's really good for. The coating is also really brittle and will crack or chip if you drop a wrench on it, or if it's hit from below by a rock.
try using contact paper. it comes in a wide variety of colors and designs. and its easy to put on and remove if u decide you want to change it.
that's the problem in our society.laziness. if you are that lazy to not be able to paint then strip it buy a new one becasue there is no easy way.
I bought those ceramic coated header when a put that 454 in my cutlass, I had regular header at first and they were heating up the firewall bad.
We had a Peterbilt. with a C15 Cat that would keep causing the ECU to reset due to it being mounted near the turbos, and overheating. we fabricated a cover, and had it ceramic coated. and worked great. lowered the temp in the unit by about 70%. But that is my only personal experience with the stuff. hope it helps - Good Luck!
