i have a 50 caliber thompson center muzzle loader and im missing the nipple. So before i go to the store i was wondering are all the nipples the same for that manufacture. Thanks
No. You can get rifle nipples and musket nipples. If you replace the rifle nipple with a musket nipple, you improve the reliability of ignition and lower the risk of a misfire. The caps used on the musket nipple are larger than those for the rifle nipple and are not interchangeable for a given nipple. The original nipple on your .50 sidelock muzzleloader was a rifle nipple.
