Are breakfast cereals good for preventing constipation? e.gkellogs, milo etc.thanks.?
MarinadeI don't know what you have access to where you are, but here in South Africa I enjoy making it with ChutneyTake some mayonnaise, some tomato sauce (or ketchup, depending on what you call it where you are), add a small amount of oil, some salt or other spice, chutney and perhaps a bit of mustardThen mix it all together and there we goYou can experiment though and add some other things which sound tasty, but have funThat's just the way I like to make it here I hope this helps a bit.
Breakfast cereal can be a help to prevent constipation, but you have to be choosy about the type you pickYou want to get a wholegrain cereal, that hasn't had all the nutrition processed out of it, and that isn't loaded with sugar and other goodiesIn other words, sugar frosted chocolate bombs are not a good idea- but shredded wheat, bran flakes, and Wheatabix are goodKeep in mind, one single bowl of cereal is just part of the equationYou still need your veggies and fruitThere are two kinds of fiber you need- the insoluble that provides bulk to move along, and the soluble sort that helps conserve moisture to help glide it all alongIf you eat too much insoluble fiber, like in your cereal- you can still end up constipatedYou need fiber in some form with every meal to help the mostWhen choosing your cereal, just look at the nutrition label, which will tell you how many grams of fiber a serving containsThat will help guide your choice bestAnd if all else fails, add a daily glass of the dry mix fiber drink to your morning routine.
