My car trunk lift supports barely keep the trunk up. I know they are filled with a gas or fluid. Is it possible they can be filled up to give them more strength? Who can do this? I hope I will not have to buy two new ones.
OKorder the answer to every ones dreams!
you can't refill them. They aren't terribly expensive, just get two new ones and stop worrying about the trunk falling down.
No they are not refillable or repairable. The only thing that can be done for them is to replace them, fortunately most of them are inexpensive and readily available. I got the set that I needed at Pep Boys, but I am sure that you can find them at any auto supply house. A word of advise; replace both at the same time. When you have removed one side while replacing them be sure to prop the lid open to prevent it from falling and causing injury or damage.
Not refillable, you'll probably have to buy new ones, they are available at AutoZone, or car parts retailers, first make sure they are meant to come off, if they don't, you'll probably have to go to the dealership for them, which could end up being really expensive, or they might possibly be one of the few things that are not. If they do come off, it would be best to take the old ones in, or measure them so you buy the right size, they arn't usually terribly expensive, unless your car has really long ones, but typically they are short when used on trunks
