Question:

Are mens ceramic wedding rings durable?

I‘ve been looking at wedding bands and im kind of interested in a ceramic band. Does anyone have any kind of info on how durable and scratch resistant they are?

Answer:

Ceramic? You mean like a kitchen bowl? (or, I hate to point out, a toilet bowl.)? Of course not. Titanium is the hardest and won't shatter, but that also means it does not conform to the hand over time. Gold wedding bands will change shape, and can be resized later in life - otherwise they will likely eventually slip off. Tungsten is a new fad, but it also shatters, and cannot be resized. This new thing of trying to keep a ring round and shiny just seems odd - as a marriage ages, your rings should also gain a patina. There is something to be said about aging gracefully, as opposed to trying not to age at all.
Every car is different so you will have a hard time having it explained on here. Nice part is all current cars have windshield wiper blade assemblies that pretty easily remove from the car so it can be done off the car in a well lit area with pliers.
Ceramic can mean a lot of different materials. Chemically, a ceramic is just an non metallic inorganic crystalline or semi-crystalline solid. It includes everything from ceramic pottery to inorganic disk brake pads, to boron carbide found in bullet proof vests and ballistic armor. Tungsten carbide is actually an example of a ceramic. In general modern ceramics will be much harder, stronger, and scratch resistant than metallic bands. The downside is that if there was ever a medical accident, ceramic bands are so strong that they typically cannot be cut off, and the only option is amputation of the finger. Edit: How scratch resistant or prone to shatter is do in large part to the type of ceramic used in the ring. If you are talking about a ceramic like boron carbide, it is able to withstand high power rifle rounds without shattering. Keep in mind that ceramic is a very generic term, almost like the word metal. There is a big difference between tin and gold rings, even though they are both metal.
