Question:

Are Preformed ponds good?

Are they good for begginers?I am wanting to have a simple pond w/ some fish, would preformed ponds work or are good to use? (im a begginer in pond)

Answer:

Heck yeah they work. Just make sure that it is deep enough that the fish can winter over in the pond (if you aren't bringing them in) and make sure that there is at least a portion of the surface that is not frozen over. That is essential for the air/gas exchange to keep the water aerated. It really just depends on what you prefer. Some people like the ability to make and shape and any depth with the flexible liners. Some people prefer the ease of the preformed liner. Just make sure that the whole liner is supported with sand or other filler so that the sides don't crack under pressure.
They aren't bad for a beginner. Keep in mind if you're in a climate that has very cold temps in the winter time, that some of those pre-formed ponds do not go deep enough to stay below the frost line - and they can crack in very cold temps. So you'll need to make sure you get one that goes deep enough to stay below the frost line (if that applies to your location).
IMHO as long as they meet the depth and size requirements for your fish/region they can be great for a beginner. Just be sure to do your research on pond care and pond fish care BEFORE you get the pond and stock it!!
You can get Kio fish! Or even black crappies!
