Are tanning beds really that bad for you?
yes! skin cancer! and plus. there are girls at my school who go every week and they don't even look good. After a while the tan starts to melt off and it's gross and disgusting. One of them is very pale so she doesn't even look tan when she goes to the salon. she looks yellow!
they have done studies that show its just as bad as going out and sitting in the sun all day so just wear sun tanning lotion and go outside instead of being in a room all by yourself.
yes they are, i used to tan in them all the time and i stoped, i just use daily glow instead, it is a lotion that has a little sunless tan in it and it builds over like a 5 day period, leaves no streaks and looks real. I got good responses from people, they all thought i was tanning!
Can't say yes or no. I went to tanning bed for years - now 15 yrs later - I found out I have basel melanoma cancer. Just had the melanoma removed. (I have a 18 stitches from my ankle to my calf). Tanning bed could of caused it. Be safe and healthy - don't go. Use alternative tanning methods. Jergens Natural Glow gives you some color which looks natural especially outside.
There seem to be a lot of myths about tanning beds that aren't true. You'll hear all these horror stories of people burning alive in them and this and that, and cancer box thrown out there. I see answers about having, Leathery Skin. Break that down for yourself, the human body is a machine. People get a completely new layer of skin every 30 days. How would it be possible for you to have leathery skin in 20 years? That's like saying, If you get too many haircuts your hair will grow short for the rest of your life. The reality of the situation is 99% of these stories simply are not true. I don't know exactly how much UV exposure one receives as compared to the sun. But either way UV rays are UV rays regardless in what concentration you get them in, they aren't very good for you. From the sun or not. Just go for what is more convenient for you. Tanning, like all things, must be done in moderation however. It's not a difference in which is worse, it's that you must draw a line for yourself and say, I can't have a tan 365 days out of the year, including winter. Going out in the sun 365 days of the year can just as easily give you the same cancerous effects. Getting a tan now and then in the summer is cool, maybe get a tan before you go to a pool party or something, so when pictures are taken you don't look like, the ghost in the group. I'm pretty sure the tumors won't start forming from that.
