I bought a pilot cold air intake and I‘m wondering if I should‘ve gone with something more expensive.

You court disaster. The electric potential developed between all three of those metals will destroy first the zinc and then the iron;you could probably light a bulb with the voltage developed between copper and zinc.So it is difficult to join them and impossible to keep them assembled for more than a month if there is water about.
they all basically do the same thing, the only thing your paying for is the name.
Expensive ones from well known and established companies usually do more Research Development on their products including testing. This results in a product that is actually proven to increase horsepower, because it would be possible for a company to make one worse than the stock intake and actually cost you horsepower. Also some have features cheap ones do not, such as, I believe it is AEM who makes one with a safety valve on the intake so if the filter is submerged in water, like going through a deep puddle, it opens the safety valve so your engine is not ruined.
