They get wealthy. Look at what investment firm owns a significant stake in many of the military supply companies. Then look at who the investors are in it. Most of them are Republican congressman. And many of them used to decide who got the military contracts. And these corporations have more power than what you really think. Not only do they make campaign contributions, but they fund lobbyist and ad marketing companies to promote their company's interests. Some of those companies will pay conservative action groups to do mass emailings on their behalf stating to vote against this or that. So that conservative action group email you got sometimes almost comes from some corporation itself. Then they can place ads on tv stating that certain things are bad. Corporations know that it takes 2-3 months for those ideas to set in peoples heads before people start believing them. I'm sure many of the falsehoods flying about regarding the government healthcare bill originated from insurance companies. And then when their constituents start writing letters and going to town hall meetings and expressing themselves to the effects of these mass emails and advertisements originated by the corporations. The legislator somewhat becomes obligated to listen to his constituents however wrongly influenced and brain-washed they may be. Seriously think about it. If you're poor and stating that rich people get taxed way too much when the richest 1% of Americans own more than the bottom 99% combined. And taking into account that under Bush the richest 1% got 36 times more tax breaks than the bottom 99% combined. Doesn't that sound like someone that's brainwashed? That person is poor, getting used, and still defending the people that are using him. Now that's what I call a good brainwash job.
