I want to take acting lessons, but my mom can't really afford them at this point because I'm going to this really expensive school (not a private school, but it has a lot of awards for the performance)I want to make scarves and blankets and ear warmers and glovesI have this acrylic yarn and it's really soft and shinyAre these good pricesScarves- $7.99/ eaBaby Blankets- $11.99/ eaEar Warmers- $5.99Pairs of Gloves- $4.99/ ea pairIf you think these prices are under priced or overpriced, please tell me.
If you are selling normal sized items made with an average skill level and straightforward stitching, you are underpricing your items significantly Let's say you can make a scarf that's 6 feet long and 6 wide with one skein of yarn that costs $2.99You work on the scarf for 6 hoursIf you sell it for $7.99, and deduct the cost of the yarn-$2.99-you will be paying yourself a maximum of $5 for 6 hours work, not counting any overhead expensesThat's less than $1 an hourYou'd be better off doing yard work for $10 an hour or babysitting for $7.25 an hourPersonally, looking at your pricing chart, I think you are pricing at about half what the market will bearDouble your pricesIf you try for two weeks and don't sell anything, you can always have a big sale and reduce the prices 10% or even 20% Also, think about what the temperature is like where you areNobody is buying knit scarves, ear warmers, or gloves where I am right now because the temperature is 90°Baby blankets and other baby items are gift items, though, and probably would sell to people who need baby gifts, particularly if packaged nicely There are a lot more things to think about when you go into the business of knitting and selling itemsWhere will you sell them? Will you have costs involved for display space, transportation, or shipping? What will attract people to your items, such as color, pattern, design, unique qualities? Would you be better off creating a lot of stock or creating samples and knitting custom orders? What yarn can you use that will be both affordable and attractive in your products? Where can you get the best total price for the yarn you select?
Newspaper then paint it red? Sorry, if this is usefulI thought the texture would be cool.
