Question:
Are Tune-O-Matic Bridges good? Do they affect the sound output?
I just bought a Dean DB Razorback Floyd guitar which has a tune-o-matic bridge, and i was a little unhappy that it can't support a whammy bar, but are they any good? Also, does not having a whammy bar make that much of a difference when playing metal?

As I understand it, extended similie/metaphor just means that the same comparison is used more than twiceExtended similie: His hands were like paws, his hair like a great mane and his body was covered with smooth sun bleached hairs that were like the coat of an african lionThe similie here is saying that a person is like a lion in appearance, but more extended than saying that he was like a lionHowever, the extension might come a lot later in the text- it doesn't necessarily follow up right after The Metaphor is like the similie, but without like obviously.

Tune-O-Matic bridges are very goodThey don't have the tuning problems that tremolo can causeIt's easy to adjust the intonation on a Tune-O-Matic bridgeThe tailpiece is firmly attached to the body for good sustainI've played a guitar with a Tune-O-Matic bridge for over 35 yearsMy tuning is rock solid and I never missed having tremoloI don't play metal, so I can't comment on the necessity of a whammy bar for thatI suspect that there will be some songs where tremolo is used on solosIf you feel the need to duplicate one of those solos lick-for-lick, you may feel you want tremoloOTOH, I've always felt that there is room for interpretationYou're a musician, not a karaoke machine and what you play doesn't need to sound exactly like the originalPeople tend to get so obsessed with their gear that they forget how important basic technique isRemember.a lot of great rock has been played on Les Paul guitars which come with Tune-O-Matic bridges and without tremolo If you wanted tremolo, you probably should have been asking these questions before you chose your new guitarIf it's not too late to exchange the guitar and you feel that tremolo is a necessity, maybe you should consider a different guitarIf you really like everything else about this guitar, keep it and don't worry about tremoloThere are literally millions of players who manage to get by without it.by choiceFor me, it just isn't worth the hassle of tuning problems or the work-arounds like locking nuts.
