Question:

Bed bug steaming question?

If I steam every inch of my room with a steamer, as well as clean all my clothes, will I get rid of every single bed bug? When I say steam every inch I literally mean, under the box spring, under the bed, on top of the bed, on top of the box spring, the carpet, the closet etc. Will this help? Thanks an advance.

Answer:

Shark Garment Stand Steamer
steam cleaning, like with a steam shark, or similar product? no. bed bugs are very vulnerable to extreme temperatures, but the entire area would have to be subjected to those conditions. they had something on tv about it not too long ago, the exterminators set the houses thermostat to max, and added additional heat blowers throughout the house and kept the house at like 110 degrees for several hours to kill them, otherwise they will just flee as you clean and go to an area you already steamed Edit: cold will also work, but with summer coming i would think it would be easier to heat then cool :P
if you steam your room, you will kill all the bed bugs you contact, the problem will be it is doubtful you will hit every bug, so doing it daily for a week straight will give you a good chance of getting them. I am not sure if the shark type steamer will put out the volume for good results.
Steamer For Bed Bugs
The answer is yes, but you may need to treat the home 2 or 3 times. The problem is that every spot would need to reach the required 113F to kill both bed bugs and eggs. If you are looking for an all organic approach, I'd suggest using an organic plant extract spray as a knock down product to kill bed bugs and eggs, along with natural fossil dust, which will help to kill any late hatching bed bugs. It would also help to cover the mattress and box spring with a bed bug cover, but only after they dry. Be sure the apply steam for 20 to 30 seconds in each area. An organic bed bug kit will save money vs. buying products separately (see resource 2).
