You probably transplanted the bed bugs on your clothing or skin. The only way to get rid of them is to spray your bed with head lice/bed bug spray (usually the same thing) and wash all of your bedding and clothing at the same time. If you have carpets, you may need to shampoo them to get rid of the bugs. Pay special attention to the seams of your mattresses and couch as that is where they like to lay their eggs. and yes they will come downstairs via your clothing or other personal effects
