On a platform bed for dorm rooms, do you get a regular mattress or a Mattress Pad? What's the difference. Also are platform beds meant to hold somewhat of a good bit of weight, if it were a queen size?
A mattress pad is just a padded fitted sheet that fits over a mattress. It protects the mattress from stains and adds a little extra padding to lay on.
I think the beds should come with a mattress, and a mattress paid isn't necessary, but might be nice. A mattress pad is basically a sheet that has extra padding in it. The bed should be sturdy enough to hold a heavier person. There were a lot of big guys that I went to college with and they never had a problem.
