Question:

Best insulation for crawl in attic?

I am redoing all the insulation in my homeEverything is done except for the atticIt is a crawl in attic and once you are in, its not very tall just longIt looks like the floor insulation has been done not too long ago so i won't mess with thatThe attic ceiling is slanted(the roof is slanted) and there is no insulation on it that there is only 2 vents on the roofI've realized in the summer its very hot upstairs and winter cold upstairsI think the insulation would help with that, what do you think? And what type of insulation would be best? Thank you!

Answer:

your brother may be rightyou may be able to replace the o- ring but if you check it by taking it apart you may want to be prepared to replace the whole thing worst case scenario.
if you mean the metal tube is leaking then yes you have to replace the whole thing
there are two ways to insulate the floor of the attic before adding any more INSULATION product you should determine if you want to add any additional ceiling lighting to the floor below as it is easier to deal with that issue [[ or not ]] at this time the 2 types of insulation [[ R-factor ]] are either the rolled batts which are the best or blown in insulation the best determination is by having several insulation companies visit your home and give you some bids/quotes to have cost figures and get the opinion of what product will raise the R-factor to the level that will make your home more comfortable and heating and cooling more energy efficient you may also want to discuss the use of strategically and energetically placing roof vents with the insulation biddersknowing the cost and understanding what R-factors are the basis for good decisions on your part the roof is not the place to attempt any insulation and that will be better understood by asking the bidders the floor of the attic/crawl space is where the insulation dollars will benefit your home and the lowering of the energy bills I hope this helps you make a good decision .
