I have a concrete block foundation around my garage that I would like to paint a dark brown to matchBare block nowHow do I prep for this or what do I use (best type of paint/ primer if needed, oil, latex? ect.) I think regualar latax paint will peel within a yr on concretealso I am going to insulate this garage, is there that much difference between R-11 and R-13 for the walls if Im only going to heat it occassionally to work on cars once in awhile? Thanks
Get primer and paint made for masonry and concreteAll major paint brands make itMake sure the block is clean and dry before you start paintingAs for the insulation, there isn't a huge difference between R-11 and R-13If you're talking about using a portable heater to heat the garage, only when you need to work on the car, I'd go with the best price.
Yes! ever hear of plastics? Computers? Pacemakers? Artificial hearts? Smoke detectors? The push of money into research and development (RD) of the technologies that made the trip to the moon possible have had so many spinoffs into everyday life that it is impossible to name them all Without those billions of dollars spent on basic RD, we would not have nearly the level of technology we have todaythose billions would have had to come from somewhere and they weren't coming from private industry without a pushGeesh, digital cameras, frs family radios, integrated circuits, solar cells, I can go on and onThe standard argument you will use to counter mine is that this RD would have been done anyway, just not for spaceThis argument is fallacious because Space was a big thing back then (were you alive back then? I was) and the U.SGovernment poured BIG bucks into a ton of places that looked like they had promise, but, and this is a BIG BUT, no one else was putting money intoThanks and enjoy your microwave oven and the computer you are currently working on thanks to NASA and the space race.
