a turbocharger is basically an air pump that pressurizes the air it has 2 sides one is driven by exhaust gases and the other sucks in the air the exhaust manifold connects up to the little pipe on the turbo then the exhaust comes out the center the other side is hooked up to your intake from the center its hooked up to your air pipe and it compresses the air in the pipe and pushes it out the pipe into the intake wastegates are bypass valves that control how much psi of boost the engine is taking until it cuts the turbo off because as boost increases the heat increases and some materials cant handle extreme heats so it has to cut off the boost thus the wastegate all turbos are connected to the same things probably just in a different part of the engine bay
