I have an electric hoist that can lift 880 lbs. What is the best way to attach this to my garage ceiling without it crashing down from the weight? The only thing I can think of is screwing it in with 4 large screws it into the ceiling joists... but will that hold?
Maybe, but I would suggest adding extra cross bracing to the rafters and bolt to that. If you plan on lifting that kind of weight, you are far better to do overkill than not. Also, I would use heavy bolts with nuts and washers since lag screws may pull out.
