I prefer power metal on average. There is so much overlap though. As another poster pointed out, even these have subdivisions of their own. There are a lot of death metal bands that are essentially power metal with death vocals and there are power metal bands that sound like death with clean vocals. Take one black metal band and add a fiddle and you have folk metal. Trade the fiddle for organ and you end up with some avant-garde prog. This is why I can't stop buying CDs. There's just so much to love.
