I HAVE A 01 325I W/STEPTRONIC TRANS, MY TRANSMISSION IS OUT AND I WANT TO GET A NEW ONE, MY QUESTION IS, CAN I PURCHASE A REGULAR AUTO TRANSMISSION OR DO I HAVE TO LOOK FOR A STEPTRONIC TRANSMISSION? ALSO IF POSSIBLE, WOULD A REGULAR AUTO TRANNY FROM A 00 328I WORK ON MINE? THANKS IN ADVANCE
the transmission computers are different from 00 to 01 because of the steptronic feature. i think when you go to get a new transmission you wont have the regular or steptronic option. they will give you a price on the transmission you need. i wouldnot put one from a 2000 model in there.
Steptronic transmissions with the manual gear select mode are different from the auto transmissions with no manual gear selection. The electronics for each are also different so swapping them is not possible.
