Answer:

Very heavily with the aid of cost of gas and electrical energy on the 2nd (hint hint) I shop the significant heating on a timer - it is going on for an hour interior the mornings and 3 hours interior the night with the thermostat set at 20 stages. while that's relatively chilly, like that's been the previous couple of weeks, i'm going to place the gas hearth on for an hour or with a view to heat up the living room - keeping the door to the hall close to maintain the warmth in. Then, approximately 15 or 20 minutes earlier i bypass to mattress i'm going to make a warm water bottle and pa in under the canopy so the mattress is extreme high quality and heat once I get in. we've had hollow area wall insulation and the loft is likewise nicely insulated, yet although puzzling i attempt to apply capability properly and heavily, I nevertheless almost faint once I get my wintry climate gas bill.
if you have a bf or husband use the best tried and true and the most fun way to keep warm im sure you know what i mean body heating or ure gf of course if ure lez nothing wrong with that :P
Oh unlucky you! What a week to have the boiler go. Personally in your situation I would go a bit old fashioned, and heat one room not the whole house. Argos sell cheap heaters that shouldn't cost too much to run, and invest in some hot water bottles for your bedrooms, bedrooms don't have to be heated, with another blanket on the bed you should be ok. Also I do insist on socks and slippers and an extra jumper. I find it bizarre anyway the people walk around in t-shirts when it is -10 outside! My hubby moans about the cold but I tell him to put another jumper on! Good luck with the boiler, we had one put in in November and it cost us ?1274 with fitting. We are now eating beans for all of January but at least we are warm!
Make sure at least one room in the house is warm, use an electric heater.Wear a few thin layers of clothes.Maybe when you are relaxing watching tv,use a hot water bottle, maybe put it on your lap or behind your back.Put hot water bottles in all beds.Keep moving about the house during the day to keep yourself warm.Drink lots of hot drinks and you will feel your house is roasting. If you have any open fires, light them.Hope the boiler man comes soon.
Is yours a condensing boiler? During freezing weather, some condensing boilers stop working because the condensate drain pipe has frozen solid. This is a small drain pipe that drips condensate (water) away from the boiler to outside. A kettle of hot (not boiling) water on the part of the drain pipe that runs outside the building is sometimes enough to allow the boiler to be reset and re-started. HTH
