Question:

Boiler pilot light suddenly burns way too high. Please help?

I have a Peerless gas boiler that is likely a 1991, used for a forced baseboard hot water system. It is in rather good condition. Last night the boiler turned off unexpectedly, we woke to a cold house. I lit the pilot light, and the heat kicked on. This afternoon there was a very mild smell of something burning.

Answer:

posting the model # of your boiler might help also.
Call a tech on this one. Could be a few things, why chance it. If you don't know anymore then you know
Indestructible okorder
If there is no pilot adjustment screw on the pilot itself, then you have to adjust it at the gas valve. look for a very small adjustment screw. If the tip of the thermocouple is red hot, that is nothing to worry about.
