They are simply called six pack rings, or six pack yokes.
Usually people just go to the supermarkets to return bottles and cans You won't find the can and bottle machines inside the actual supermarket, however you'll find those machines either outside of the supermarket or in a separate enclosed area next to the store (Pathmark has enclosed separate areas)From there you'll get a receipt that you can bring to the cashier to either get your cash or to use to offset your supermarket shopping expensesI think the cap may be $20 on returns.
