Question:

Bunk Bed HELP!?

I am looking into a bunk bed that converts into two twin beds. I have a 18month old and a 4 year old. The 18month old climbs out of bother her crib and pack n- play. I would def put her on the bottom with a bed rail on the bed. But does it still seem to young? Space is a huge problem for us right now. I like the metal silver beds vs the wooden seem like they would hold more weight? Any suggestions FIRST TIME BUNK BED EXPERIENCE.

Answer:

If you share a room, it won't matter if you have single beds or bunkbeds. Try it out and see how it goes. Tell your brothers it is temporary unless you decide you like the arrangement. Also, with a younger sister in your room, the boyfriend needs to be kept out of it.
If your 18 month old is climbing out of her crib, it would be much safer to have her in a bottom bunk with a side rail...First it would not be so far to fall is she were to take a tumble, and would certainly give you much needed space. The metal beds would be your better by, both for longevity of product, and a more modern look. Good luck.
My sister and I had wooden bunk beds that converted to twin beds when we were young. Those beds stayed with us for a very long time and my parents still have them. I would suggest getting a wooden bed instead of the metal one. I believe it will last longer. Good luck! As for your daughter climbing out of her crib...it seems that the low bunk bed would make more sense and be safer.
We bought bunk beds for our kids at about the same age as your children, we also had space issues. 18 mths is good time to move to a big bed with a side rail. I would suggest getting a set with a removable ladder. Our son loved to climb and we had to take the ladder down or he was always on the top bunk. Our daughter had no problem climbing up the end of the bed to get up to the top.
