Question:

c5/c6 corvette z06 or a lifted power stoke for first car?

i am getting my first car in a few months and i cant decide between a c5/c6 z06 corvette or a 6 or more inch lifted powerstroke ford f250/350 my limit price is about 25k. please no answers say that i am a spoiled brat i am just looking for some help picking.

Answer:

The new 6.0 Power strokes are overly complex and have high and frequent repair bills. The older 7.3 is far superior due to its simplicity of design. Asking whether you should buy a sports car or a big flashy truck is totally a matter of taste and lifestyle. If your hobby requires you to haul large items around the answer is obvious. You are asking us to compare apples to oranges. I own both a 4x4 pickup and a muscle car, and I paid about 1/4 of your budget to buy both.
Terrible vehicles all around. The best would be to get a STOCK F-250/350 Powerstroke and treat it nicely. You can make money with those trucks doing odd jobs plus have all kinds of fun with it and if you keep it STOCK and don't chip it or lift it or mud it. you can get a decent return on resale. I've passed guys in lifted trucks mired in mud up to the window sills in my family car. simply because I went around the mud instead of through it. I've also schooled a few Vette's because in traffic, nothing is worse than a long, wide, and expensive car with too much power and not enough visibility for darting in and out of lanes.
Both horrible choices. Big tall, powerful, and tippy truck + inexperienced driver bad. Small powerful muscle car + inexperienced driver bad. Also, both are going to cost a fortune to insure and keep full of gas. And will make you look like you are trying to compensate for something ;)
