Question:

Can a ceramic heater be used with any light fixture?

I plan to use a 100 watt ceramic heated for day, and a 56-100 watt for red inffer red bulb for night time. Do I need two different light fixtures to use this?

Answer:

From personal experience, I'd have to echo Dave's comments. In *theory* if you stick to the rated wattage, any fixture should work. In practice, I've had CHE's burn out cheap fixtures pretty quickly. But put them in a good fixture with a ceramic base and they're wonderful.
It is not an old city young city thing. It is simply a those who've done it and those who haven't thing. Most cities had streetcars until they were replaced by allegedly cheaper buses. Given that some of these systems are immensely expensive a lot of cities are pretty wishy-washy about spending what would amount to billions on rail systems. I lived in Atlanta when their system was built and was born in Chicago and love the L. So, there is hope.
Technically, Yes. Personally, I will only use a CHE in a lamp with a ceramic fixture though. I think it's much safer. They put of a deeper heat, and infrared heat. I've seen fires started from improper use. I'm sure it was probably used in a low wattage lamp, but still makes me nervous.
Wellit seems that I am unable to top any of these replies. They've said it all and it's the truth. I, personally am welded to my 2 vehicles. Never leave home without one of them. A true Californian who loves his pickups and cars. I even drive up to the corner store that is probably less than 500 feet away. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A ceramic heat emitter can be use with any fixture, just as long as the fixture is rated for the amount of wattage it needs to function. You would not need two different fixtures if you didn't wish to buy two; if you want to use one for both bulbs that's fine.
